The sixth meeting for the Buckland Plan Steering Group was convened and held in the Reading Room on Monday, January 14th 2002.

1.        Apologies for absence.

 

Apologies for absence were received from Sue Dovey.

 

2.        Minutes.

 

          The minutes of the meeting held on Monday December 10th 2001, having

          been circulated were taken as read and accepted with the correction from

          Councillor Amanda Allen that item 3.1. should read Acorns Nursery not Acorns

          School, these being separate entities.

 

3.        Matters arising from the minutes.

 

3.1     Children’s Poster Workshop. The workshop held on Saturday January 5th was a great success. 38 children took part in the workshop and some 10 entries were received. The Chairman congratulated Karen Munroe and Amanda Allen on the success of the event and the very high standard of entry. A considerable amount of publicity was gained for the Village Plan by the coverage given to the workshop by Southern Counties Radio interview with Councillor Amanda Allen, and the full colour page spread given in the Surrey Mirror and Dot king Advertiser, plus of course the excellent publicity supplied by our own Parish Magazine.

To give more time to judge the results and to organise the event the prize giving, was put back to Sunday 10th February. The event will be held in the Reading Room with competition entries being displayed on tile display stands on loan from the SVSC. The event will start at 3 pm with award ceremony at 3.30 pm this will be followed by tea and cakes.

Alison Walshe agreed to produce 40 certificates for the prize giving, the Clerk to obtain suitable cartridge style paper for the certificates to be printed on.

 

3.2     Time Capsule. Information on Time Capsules obtained by the Clerk was circulated and discussed. The Chairman Councillor Elson volunteered to make up a suitable capsule from plastic piping used for drainage, with screw caps that would be made waterproof with thin Teflon tape.

 

3.3.    Website. Howard Longstaff reported that the Website was in place, material was now required for it. It was agreed that the minutes of the liaison group be included unedited.

 

4.       Question selection. One and a half hours were spent going through the questions getting to question 190 on the menu of questions.

 

5.         Date of next meeting February 4th 2002.
