Buckland Garden Waste Compost Site - NOW OPEN A Parish Council working group set up the Buckland Composting facility at the Buckland Nurseries on Saturday January 15th 2005. Ten metal crates donated by Buckland Nurseries (Reigate Road) were adapted for use as composting bins. The unit is to the rear left of the Nursery shop and is clearly marked. It is very much hoped that the residents of Buckland will take advantage of the scheme. 21% of waste produced in Surrey is garden waste and if we can eliminate this factor we will be doing our bit to reduce the blight that waste disposal causes. The site is available free of charge to all residents of Buckland during the opening hours of Buckland Nurseries. We are confident that the site will be used in a responsible manner. Here are some of the ground rules. 1. Garden waste only, leaves, grass cuttings, weeds and unwanted plant material (not bindweed and ground elder). 2. Hard material (prunings etc) need to be shredded first. An electric shredder is available for hire from the Parish Clerk. lain Laurenson 248909 at a cost of £5 per day. 3. The bin in current use is clearly marked, please use this one only. The compost produced will be available to residents at a cost of 50p per bag. We have five volunteers so far on the roster to supervise the site, we need five more, If you can help please contact Iain Laurensen. Parish Councils through out Surrey are watching our experiment with interest. Please help make it. a success and set a trend.
