The idea for a booklet for local walks, arose from the analysis of a village appraisal questionnaire that was circulated to all Buckland residents in 2002. The appraisal attracted a 85% return. Half the respondents said they would welcome leaflets of local walks, and over two-thirds said they would appreciate maps of local footpaths. These suggestions were subsequently included in the Parish Council’s Action Plan.


During 2003, seven walks were constructed by Jim Docking and John Lane, with maps illustrated by Joan Gregory. The Walks are now available here as A4 JPEG documents to download and print:
