BUCKLAND WINDMILL - LATEST NEWS

August 2001

The cap (revolving top) of Buckland Windmill has been reconstructed with a new oak frame and several new castings (see Restoration).   It is being painted in the next few months in readiness for re-assembly on top of the windmill.     The old oak weatherboards have been used for dendrochronology dating samples - results are awaited.    The original shuttered sails will also receive a coat of paint to be re-erected.    Expect new pictures with the cap in place over the summer of 2001.

The pictures below show the cap fully assembled (not yet painted) and the underlying cap frame.   Click on the 'thumbnails' to download images.
